AAUP Contract Bargaining Update

The unions met with the administration today, November 5. Learn about the details by watching this brief update from your St. John's AAUP President Fred Cocozzelli.

Today, we felt the administration had begun doing their job as negotiators. This is undoubtedly due to the actions many of you have taken, together with your colleagues, to let President Shanley and Provost Moller know that administrators need to bring real proposals to the table. We could feel a difference in their approach following your actions to get your voices heard!

While we are glad to hear actual proposals on wages for full-time and adjunct faculty, and on health care, the administration is still offering numbers and approaches that will lead to an overall decrease in salary for all faculty while health care prices go up precipitously. We need to keep the pressure up in order for them to bring more serious proposals to create decent wages and quality, affordable health care. We will bargain again next Wednesday, November 12.
